Exo 12:2 "You are to begin your calendar with this month; it will be the first month of the year for you.
This seems pretty simple to understand. Then why is it that the Jews are celebrating the new year in the 7th month?
From the rabbi’s: WHAT IS ROSH HASHANAH? The anniversary of the creation of Adam and Eve, a day of judgment and coronation, the sounding of the shofar . . .. "Jewish tradition believes that Adam was created on this day (Mishnah, San Hedrin 38b). How did they decide that this was the day of the year the world was created? Because the first words of the Book of Genesis (Bereishit), "in the beginning," when changed around, read, Aleph b'Tishrei, or "on the first of Tishrei." Each year on Rosh Hashanah, “all inhabitants of the world pass before G‑d like a flock of sheep,” and it is decreed in the heavenly court “who shall live, and who shall die . . . who shall be impoverished, and who shall be enriched; who shall fall and who shall rise.”
