Marriage is...Responsibility & Servanthood Part 3

In marriage, it is the husband who is to be responsible for himself and for many others under him in his household and family. The honor of the family or household depends on the work of the husband to keep his account with Adonai in balance.

Responsibility contains an element of exchange or payment. There is a value system placed on the role of responsibility. There is great honor in being given a responsibility, but there are great requirements as well

After seven days the word of Adonai came to me:"Son of man being, I have appointed you to be a watchman for the house of Isra'el. When you hear a word from my mouth, you are to warn them for me. If I say to a wicked person, 'You will certainly die'; and you fail to warn him, to speak and warn the wicked person to leave his wicked way and save his life; then that wicked person will die guilty; and I will hold you responsible for his death. On the other hand, if you warn the wicked person, and he doesn't turn from his wickedness or his wicked way, then he will still die guilty; but you will have saved your own life. Similarly, when a righteous person turns away from his righteousness and commits wickedness, I will place a stumbling block before him — he will die; because you failed to warn him, he will die in his sin; his righteous acts which he did will not be remembered; and I will hold you responsible for his death.   But if you warn the righteous person that a righteous person should not sin, and he doesn't sin; then he will certainly live, because he took the warning; and you too will have saved your life."

Ezekiel 3:16-21

"Son of man, speak to your people; say to them, 'Suppose I bring the sword on a country, and the people of that country take one of their men and appoint him their watchman. Now if, upon seeing the sword coming against that country, he blows the shofar and warns the people; then, if the sword comes and takes away someone who heard the sound of the shofar but paid no attention to it, the responsibility for that person's death will be his own —he heard the shofar but paid no attention, so the responsibility for his death is his own; whereas if he had paid attention, he would have saved his life. But if the watchman sees the sword coming and does not blow the shofar, so that the people are not warned; and then the sword comes and takes any one of them, that one is indeed taken away in his guilt, but I will hold the watchman responsible for his death.' "Likewise you, son of man — I have appointed you as watchman for the house of Isra'el. Therefore, when you hear the word from my mouth, warn them for me. When I tell the wicked person, 'Wicked person, you will certainly die'; and you fail to speak and warn the wicked person to leave his way; then that wicked person will die guilty; and I will hold you responsible for his death. On the other hand, if you warn the wicked to turn from his way, and he doesn't turn from his way; then he will still die guilty, but you will have saved your own life. "Therefore, you, human being, say to the house of Isra'el: 'You say, "Our crimes and sins are weighing us down, we're pining away because of them, how can we even stay alive?" ' Say to them, 'As I live,' swears Adonai Elohim, 'I take no pleasure in having the wicked person die, but in having the wicked person turn from his way and live. So repent! Turn from your evil ways! For why should you die, house of Isra'el?'

As our betrothed in Heaven, our Lord is the protection and the covering of every human who seeks Him. It is Adonai who has appointed the husband as the one responsible for the covering of the marriage and the household.

Responsibility requires complete and perfect obedience to the Lord in order for the effect of complete protection to be accomplished

For He will give His angels charge concerning you, To guard you in all your ways.

Psalm 91:11

For the Tanakh says, 'He will order his angels to be responsible for you and to protect you.

Luke 4:10

A person is responsible to prepare his heart, but how the tongue speaks is from Adonai.

Proverbs 16:1

In marriage, both the husband and the wife must recognize their roles as servants of the Most High King before either of them can properly fulfill their spousal role.

In God, the male servant is afforded great honors and privileges and rights which are not inherently his, but flow down to him from the position of the Master whom he serves. The Lord repeatedly elevates a humble obedient servant to higher positions than they could ever achieve on their own. Thus, while still in the role of servant, they are elevated above the others to which they had once been a servant themselves.

When Israel saw the great power which the LORD had used against the Egyptians, the people feared the LORD, and they believed in the LORD and in His servant Moses.

Exodus 14:31

With him I speak mouth to mouth, Even openly, and not in dark sayings, And he beholds the form of the LORD. Why then were you not afraid To speak against My servant, against Moses?"

• In today’s world, “responsibility” is a difficult word. Many people do not accept responsibility unless they are forced. People who have titles and authority forsake their responsibilities, deny their responsibilities, and often blame others when disasters result from their lack of responsibility.
