392 Personal Dedication

We just had the completion of the Olympics. We watched some great competitions and saw some incredible things. For each one of those athletes to compete and win the gold medal there had to be a personal dedication to that objective that could not be stopped by anything. It had to be a will, a drive, and a thirst for that medal to win the prize. Anything else would pale by comparison.

Jas 1:4  But let perseverance do its complete work; so that you may be complete and whole, lacking in nothing…

Jas 1:12  How blessed is the man who perseveres through temptation! For after he has passed the test, he will receive as his crown the Life which God has promised to those who love him.

Jas 1:13  No one being tempted should say, "I am being tempted by God." For God cannot be tempted by evil, and God himself tempts no one.

Jas 1:14  Rather, each person is being tempted whenever he is being dragged off and enticed by the bait of his own desire.

Just like the athletes that compete in the world Olympics’ for that gold medal, we are in a competition for our soles. The enemy of our souls, satan, knows his time is short and he is unleashing an unprecedented war against the believers throughout the world.

In the 1940's, the world fought against the greatest evil it had ever seen, Adolf Hitler and his terrible regime. In the midst of this war, Winston Churchill said, "We shall not flag or fail. We shall go on to the end. We shall fight in France, we shall fight on the seas and oceans, we shall fight with growing confidence and growing strength in the air, we shall defend our island, whatever the cost may be, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender." U.S. President Franklin D. Roosevelt said, "The only thing we have to fear -- is fear itself!" The United States and England stood bold in the face of evil and in time prevailed! Nevertheless, it took resolve; it took fortitude, and tremendous perseverance in the face of evil to finally achieve this great victory! This message is all about a personal dedication like the competitor at the Olympics, but instead of a medal of gold, you get a crown of glory. Find out what it takes to achieve that goal in “Personal Dedication”.
