MESSIANIC LESSON

917 The Soldier

What does it mean to be in the Lord's army?

BIBLE: Mark 10:45 YESHUA was very passionate about the cause.

SYNOPSIS: What is the secular definition of a soldier? A Soldier is a dedicated and passionate person who works for the armed forces of a state or country. They sacrifice everything for the security of their motherland. In today’s HaShabbat lesson we are going to look at what is a biblical soldier. Does MESSIAH YESHUA call us to be in the military? Does the Brit Hadasha allow us to fight in war? What is the real deep understanding of sacrifice? President Dwight Eisenhower broadcast from the White House for the American Legion's Back-to-God Program, February 7, 1954: "As a former soldier… In battle, we learned a great truth-that there are no atheists in the foxholes. They know that in time of test and trial, we instinctively turn to God for new courage and peace of mind. Learn about the soldiers piece of mind in the LORD’S army.

HASHABBAT LESSON: What does it mean to be in the Lord's army?

A Soldier is a dedicated and passionate person who works for the armed forces of a state or country. They sacrifice everything for the security of their motherland.

Mark 10:45 YESHUA was very passionate about the cause.

Mar 10:45  For the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve—and to give his life as a ransom for many."

Ref. Rev 19:14  The armies of heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and pure, were following him on white horses.

General Douglas MacArthur told West Point cadets, May 1962: "The soldier, above all other men, is required to practice the greatest act of religious training - sacrifice. In battle, and in the face of danger and death, he discloses those Divine attributes which his Maker gave when He created man in His own image ... However horrible the incidents of war may be, the soldier who is called upon to offer and to give his life for his country is the noblest development of mankind."

Mattiyahu (Mat) 9:9 YESHUA first order to Mattiyahu.

Mat 9:9  As Yeshua passed on from there he spotted a tax-collector named Mattityahu sitting in his collection booth. He said to him, "Follow me!" and he got up and followed him.

HOLD PLACE

Mattiyahu (Mat) 10:34-39 pick-up your equipment.

Mat 10:38  And anyone who does not take up his cross and follow me is not worthy of me.

Mat 9:9

President Dwight Eisenhower broadcast from the White House for the American Legion's Back-to-God Program, February 7, 1954: "As a former soldier… In battle, we learned a great truth-that there are no atheists in the foxholes. They know that in time of test and trial, we instinctively turn to God for new courage and peace of mind.

HOLD PLACE A SECOND TIME

Acts 19:13-16 before going into battle you need training.

Act 19:13  Then some of the Jewish exorcists who traveled from place to place tried to make use of the name of the Lord Yeshua in connection with people who had evil spirits. They would say, "I exorcise you by the Yeshua that Sha'ul is proclaiming!"

Act 19:15-16

Mat 9:9

Mat 10:38

Mat 10:34

Mat 10:35-36

Mat 10:36

Sometime in the early 2000’s Charles Michael Province, U.S. Army, wrote this poem:

It is the Soldier, not the minister, Who has given us freedom of religion.

It is the Soldier, not the reporter, Who has given us freedom of the press.

It is the Soldier, not the poet, Who has given us freedom of speech.

It is the Soldier, not the campus organizer, Who has given us freedom to protest.

It is the Soldier, not the lawyer, Who has given us the right to a fair trial.

It is the Soldier, not the politician, Who has given us the right to vote.

It is the Soldier who salutes the flag, Who serves beneath the flag, And whose coffin is draped by the flag, Who allows the protester to burn the flag.

HOLD PLACE

Revelation 19:13 Who’s blood is on it?

Rev 19:13  He was wearing a robe that had been soaked in blood, and the name by which he is called is, "THE WORD OF GOD."

On NOVEMBER 11, 1921, President Warren G. Harding stated: "On the threshold of eternity, many a soldier, I can well believe, wondered how his ebbing blood would color the stream of human life, flowing on after his sacrifice ...

Mat 10:37

Mat 10:38-39

"I do solemnly swear that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God."

D’varim 6:4-7 teach them carefully.

Deu 6:4  "Sh'ma, Yisra'el! YEHOVAH Eloheinu, YEHOVAH echad [Hear, Isra'el! YEHOVAH our God, YEHOVAH is one];

Deu 6:5  and you are to love YEHOVAH your God with all your heart, all your being and all your resources.

Deu 6:6  These words, which I am ordering you today, are to be on your heart;

Deu 6:7  and you are to teach them carefully to your children. You are to talk about them when you sit at home, when you are traveling on the road, when you lie down and when you get up.

1 Sh’mu’el (Sam) 17:1-51 What is the character of the soldier.

1Sa 17:45  David answered the P'lishti, "You're coming at me with a sword, a spear and a javelin. But I'm coming at you in the name of YEHOVAH-Tzva'ot, the God of the armies of Isra'el, whom you have challenged.

1Sa 17:4

1Sa 17:6-7

1Sa 17:10-11

1Sa 17:23 -24

Ref. Deu 20:8  "The officials will then add to what they have said to the soldiers: 'Is there a man here who is afraid and fainthearted? He should go back home; otherwise his fear may demoralize his comrades as well.'

Ref. Gideon Jdg 7:3  Therefore, proclaim to the people 'Anyone who is anxious or afraid should go back home, while we stay here on Mount Gil`ad.' " Twenty-two thousand returned, but ten thousand remained.

Jer 6:16  Here is what YEHOVAH says: "Stand at the crossroads and look; ask about the ancient paths, 'Which one is the good way?' Take it, and you will find rest for your souls. But they said, 'We will not take it.'
