957 YOU’LL OWN NOTHING AND BE HAPPY

 

SYNOPSIS: How could owning absolutely nothing make anyone happy? Is this a biblical idea? I thought we were promised an inheritance if we followed ELOHIM. So who said you’ll own nothing and be happy? Did ELOHIM say this? If HE did does any of agree with this statement anymore? Imagine if this was said to you, “you will own nothing and be happy”. How many would say great, I did not want a car. Or great I never wanted to own my own house. In today’s lesson we are going to explore who said this first and how does this apply to our lives.

Ref. Luk 20:13  "Then the owner of the vineyard said, 'What am I to do? I will send my son, whom I love; maybe they will respect him.' Luk 20:14  But when the tenants saw him, they discussed it among themselves and said, 'This is the heir; let's kill him, so that the inheritance will be ours!'

Revelation (Rev) 22:3 his servants will worship him.

Rev 22:3  no longer will there be any curses. The throne of God and of the Lamb will be in the city, and his servants will worship him; 

 

WORSHIP: G3000 λατρεύω latreuō  Thayer Definition: 1) to serve for hire 2) in the NT, to render religious service or homage, to worship 3) to perform sacred services, to offer gifts, to worship God in the observance of the rites instituted for his worship

 

B’midbar (Num) 18:20-24 you’ll own nothing and be happy, if you serve YEHOVAH.

Num 18:20  YEHOVAH said to Aharon, "You are not to have any inheritance or portion in their land; I am your portion and inheritance among the people of Isra'el.

Num 18:21  "To the descendants of Levi I have given the entire tenth of the produce collected in Isra'el. It is their inheritance in payment for the service they render in the tent of meeting.

Num 18:22  From now on, the people of Isra'el are not to approach the tent of meeting, so that they will not bear the consequences of their sin and die. 

Num 18:23  Only the L'vi'im are to perform the service in the tent of meeting, and they will be responsible for whatever they do wrong. This is to be a permanent regulation through all your generations. They are to have no inheritance among the people of Isra'el,

Num 18:24  because I have given to the L'vi'im as their inheritance the tenths of the produce which the people of Isra'el set aside as a gift for YEHOVAH. This is why I have said to them that they are to have no inheritance among the people of Isra'el." 

 

Revelation (Rev) 21:16 it is not a 15 minute city.

Rev 21:16  The city is laid out in a square, its length equal to its width. With his rod he measured the city at 1,500 miles, with length, width and height the same.

SERVE: G3000 λατρεύω latreuō  Thayer Definition: 1) to serve for hire 2) to serve, minister to, either to the gods or men and used alike of slaves and freemen 3) to perform sacred services, to offer gifts, to worship God in the observance of the rites instituted for his worship

 

B’resheet (Gen) 15:13-14 to serve means who’s slave are you.

Gen 15:13  YEHOVAH said to Avram, "Know this for certain: your descendants will be foreigners in a land that is not theirs. They will be slaves and held in oppression there four hundred years. 

Gen 15:14  But I will also judge that nation, the one that makes them slaves. Afterwards, they will leave with many possessions. 

 

SLAVES – SERVE: H5647 עבד ‛âbad BDB Definition: 1) to work, serve 2) labor, work, do work 3) to work for another, serve another by labor 4) to serve as subjects 5) to serve (with Levitical service) 6) to make oneself a servant 7) to be led or enticed to serve

 

Y’hoshua (Josh) 24:14-15 you’ll have everything and be happy.

 

Jos 24:14  "Therefore fear YEHOVAH, and serve him truly and sincerely. Put away the gods your ancestors served beyond the [Euphrates]River and in Egypt, and serve YEHOVAH! 

Jos 24:15  If it seems bad to you to serve YEHOVAH, then choose today whom you are going to serve! Will it be the gods your ancestors served beyond the River? or the gods of the Emori, in whose land you are living? As for me and my household, we will serve YEHOVAH!"
